COMP (Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists)
COMP is a Canadian organization whose members are student and graduate medical physicists. Its objectives are to promote medical physics at the national and international level and to foster exchanges between its members, by offering an annual conference and quarterly newsletters. The COMP also encourages its members to obtain certification from the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine.
CNSC (Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission)
The CNSC’s role is to regulate and control the use of nuclear energy and materials in Canada, under the Nuclear Safety and Control Act.
In particular, five of its regulations apply more specifically to areas related to medical physics:
CPQR (Canadian Partnership for Quality Radiotherapy)
The CQRP is a national organization whose mission is to ensure safe radiation therapy for all Canadians through a variety of programs including quality control techniques, standardization of practices, risk reduction, and patient-centred care.
IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)
The IAEA works to promote the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear technologies internationally, and issues recommendations on radiation protection.
