There are many reasons to join the Association québécoise des physicien(ne)s médicaux cliniques (AQPMC). Among the most important is the fact that you will be joining over 200 other people in your professional network: medical physicists like yourself, active in the profession and committed to continually improving and perfecting the way things are done.
Being a member allows you to meet your peers face to face at events such as the Annual Scientific Meeting and other conferences and meetings supported by the AQPMC. These are opportunities to learn continuously and ensure that you stay on top of the latest studies, guideline changes and new protocols being implemented in the industry. In addition, the Annual Scientific Meeting is free for members and includes lunch and breaks. Student members are also eligible for a prize for the best presentation. The Jean Pouliot Award is also given each year for the best paper published by a student as first author. Other activities are also organized.
If you can’t attend the annual meeting, you can still keep up with what’s new and exciting through the newsletter. The AQPMC is also the only association that can negotiate the working conditions of medical physicists with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS). The Association is therefore the best way to keep you informed of the different negotiations and of the information transmitted by the MSSS.
While it is obviously important for you to stay abreast of medical physics news, you may also want to see how to advance your career. The AQPMC supports its members in this regard through a medical physics section, but also through the job postings on its website. You will find current job postings, salary survey results and continuing education information.
